Moderna shares are down 24.6 per cent on Thursday, October 22, 2026. The previous close was $245.81.
Earlier in the session, the stock was down more than 18 per cent, at $200.54. Merck shares fell 3.1 per cent at the same time. StockAnalysis, citing Bloomberg, MarketWatch and Investor's Business Daily, reported that embargoed Phase 3 data for intismeran autogene, the personalized mRNA melanoma vaccine from Moderna and Merck, had been leaked online.
Moderna shares had already fallen nearly 10 per cent on October 16, ahead of that presentation.
Moderna shares had been lifted earlier in October by election-driven healthcare optimism. Today's fall continues to erase that gain. The company named a new chief operating officer on September 30. That appointment has had little visible effect on sentiment.
