Russia says it attacked 2 cargo ships in the Black Sea, IFX reports.
The claim comes as talks between Russia, the US and Ukraine move forward. The Kremlin said new Russia-US-Ukraine talks may be held in Abu Dhabi.
Attacks on shipping have continued through each round of diplomacy, from the Abu Dhabi talks to the technical-level meetings now under way. The strike on October 5 on another cargo ship pointed the same way. Progress on scheduling talks has not led to any pullback in attacks at sea. For US stocks, the claim adds little that is new. None of the earlier strikes in this campaign moved risk sentiment, so it reinforces the stalemate rather than adding a new factor.
