Republic Bancorp reported third-quarter net income of $31.1 million, up 4 per cent from $29.7 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share were $1.59, up 5 per cent from $1.52 a year earlier. That was $0.12 below expectations.
Return on average assets was 1.74 per cent in the quarter. Return on average equity was 10.48 per cent.
Net interest income in Core Banking rose $4.8 million, or 8 per cent, from the third quarter of 2025. The segment's net interest margin widened 25 basis points to 4.03 per cent. Republic Bancorp credited lower funding costs, a favourable shift in earning assets, disciplined pricing and balance sheet management. The company said it began to see benefits in the quarter from Republic Payment Solutions, a program it launched late in the second quarter.
Logan Pichel, the company's president and chief executive, said third-quarter results reflected strong loan growth, expanding net interest income, disciplined expense management and solid credit quality across Core Banking. Those operating strengths would normally support the bottom line, which makes the miss against expectations harder to read at face value. The open question is whether the momentum management describes shows up in future earnings, or whether this quarter's shortfall proves to be the more lasting signal for investors.
