Trump is expected to remove some tariffs on Canada, Wall Street Journal reports
It would be the most concrete step back from months of harsh rhetoric between Washington and Ottawa.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump is expected to remove some tariffs on Canada. If that happens, it would be the clearest easing in months of hard words between the two countries.
The tone has been harsh until now. On October 1, Greer described the outstanding issues as difficult to resolve. On October 7, Trump said Canada had been "very difficult to deal with." Two days before the report, Trump said Canada is "working hard to make a deal." The shift in tone came before any rollback, and the two tracks now appear to be moving together.
Canadian officials have repeatedly warned against expecting a full return to tariff-free trade. A partial removal would fit that position better than a full settlement. Steel, autos and energy are the sectors where Ottawa has put in place its own support measures, so they are the likeliest focus if specific tariff lines come off.
