PNC Financial Services Group reported third-quarter earnings per share of $5.09, $0.12 above estimates. Revenue came in at $6.56bn, short of the $6.68bn expected.
The bank's board declared a quarterly cash dividend of $2.00 per share, payable November 5, 2026, to shareholders of record as of October 14, 2026. PNC said it expects fourth-quarter share buybacks to run at roughly the same pace as the third quarter.
The profit beat alongside the revenue shortfall points to cost control or reserve trends offsetting softer top-line growth, a combination that will shape how regional banks are judged this earnings season. Holding the dividend at $2.00 and keeping buybacks steady suggests PNC is not pulling back on capital returns despite the weaker revenue, in line with the preferred stock redemption it announced on September 29 that had already signalled a shift toward optimizing its capital structure.
