Apple's chairman said Chinese regulators have approved Apple Intelligence, moving the long-delayed AI platform from planned to cleared status.
Apple has set a December debut for the feature in China, ending a two-year regulatory delay. The launch pairs Apple with Alibaba and Baidu, a structure built to meet China's rules on foreign AI services.
The approval follows a period in which Apple was still preparing the platform for its mainland rollout after the earlier delay.
Chairman-level confirmation removes uncertainty over whether Beijing's review process would push the launch back further. It does not on its own show how Chinese consumers will respond, which remains the open question for whether the absence of the feature had been holding back iPhone sales in China.
