Japan's industrial production fell 2.4% in August from the prior month, a steeper decline than the preliminary reading of -1.7% released on September 29.
The revision came alongside a separate report showing August capacity utilization fell 4.2%, against expectations for a 0.5% increase.
Together, the two figures point to a deeper manufacturing slowdown than the initial data suggested, adding to signs of weak domestic demand already visible in retail sales.
For investors, the link to US equities runs mainly through the yen and expectations for Japanese government bond yields, rather than through any direct read on American corporate activity.
