NextEra Energy reported third-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.24, $0.05 ahead of expectations. Revenue came in at $8.09B, below the $8.72B forecast.
Chairman, president and chief executive John Ketchum said the results reflected continued strong financial and operational performance at both Florida Power & Light and NextEra Energy Resources.
The company reiterated its 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance of $3.92 to $4.02, and said it is targeting the high end of that range. It also stuck to its target of 8% or higher compound annual earnings growth through 2032, extending that same pace through 2035, both measured off a 2025 base of $3.71. Dividend per share growth targets were also kept in place, roughly 10% a year through 2026 off a 2024 base, then 6% a year from the end of 2026 through 2028.
The guidance was reaffirmed as the company works through a legal overhang from shareholder derivative claims, which were settled earlier this month with a modest cash payment and governance changes. Holding operational and growth targets steady despite the revenue miss and that legal distraction points to management seeing no need to change its capital allocation plans, with the earnings beat and unchanged long-term growth outlook likely to matter more to investors than the quarterly revenue shortfall.
