Thermo Fisher Scientific reported third-quarter earnings of $6.68 a share, beating the consensus estimate by $0.21. Revenue came in at $12.14bn, ahead of the $12.07bn analysts had expected.
The results build on a stronger second quarter, when Thermo Fisher posted earnings of $6.03 a share on revenue of $11.99bn, up 10.5% from a year earlier, according to MarketBeat. A year ago, in the third quarter of 2025, the company earned $5.79 a share on revenue of $11.12bn, MarketBeat said.
Going into the print, Thermo Fisher's guidance for full-year 2026 called for revenue of $47.4bn to $48.1bn, against a consensus of $47.8bn, MarketBeat reported.
The beat on both lines points to demand across life sciences tools and diagnostics holding up better than expected, after a stretch of several quarters in which customers worked down inventories and cut spending on instruments. A revenue beat alongside the earnings upside suggests order volumes in areas such as bioproduction, analytical instruments and diagnostics were stronger than analysts had modelled. The size of the beat, roughly 3% on both revenue and earnings, points toward improving visibility into customer budgets rather than a one-off gain. Whether it marks a turning point for the wider sector will depend on how other tools and diagnostics companies report in the coming weeks.
